The David Shelton Gallery is blasting off from San Antonio and landing in Houston at the Inman Annex for the opening of Road Show Houston. The show will feature works by Houston-based artist Augusto DiStefano; San Antonio-based artists Judith Cottrell, Jayne Lawrence, George Schroeder, and Vincent Valdez; and Austin-based artists Jonathan Faber and me. Come to the opening this Friday, September 10th, from 6 - 8pm. And maybe more dancing?

The David Shelton Gallery turns one! Come celebrate with me at the opening reception for "One:A Group Exhibition," this Saturday, July 24, from 6 - 8pm. The show features new work by Judith Cottrell, Jonathan Faber, George Schroeder, Dan Sutherland, Vincent Valdez and me. Plus, there's a bonus grand opening next door for the art360 Gallery. I am pleased to announce the opening of "Foretopia" at the David Shelton Gallery in San Antonio. Along with Judith Cottrell, Jayne Lawrence, and Vincent Valdez, the show features a few of my most recent paintings and drawings. The opening for "Chill" at D Berman Gallery is Thursday Dec 17, 6-8pm. The group show featuring the "luminous watercolors of melting icebergs by Cynthia Camlin; delicate drawings by Sara Frantz linking the grandiose landscapes of Iceland and West Texas; Jennifer Maestre's undulating pencil sculptures inspired by sea urchins; Leslie Mutchler's sculptural works merging utopian aspirations with the wild inclinations of nature; Raychael Stine's buoyant and realistic dogs romping through worlds of abstraction; Steve Wiman's gracefully edited installations using the world's flotsam; and Sydney Yeager's tumultuous paintings which capture moments of instability and a dissolution of order" will run through February 6th.

Along with Jules Jules Buck Jones, Carlos Rosales-Silva, Matthew Rodriguez, Barry Stone, Sonya Berg, Sterling Allen, and collaborative work by Michael Sieben and Nathan Green, I will be participating in Art Palace's last show before the move to Houston. Be sure to check out the eclectic mix of work and say farewell while negotiating the E.A.S.T. this year.

Thank you to Angel Quesada who awarded two of my drawings Best in Show for "Twisted Spurs". The exhibit is currently up at K Space Contemporary.

I also recently participated in Lori Waxman's performance critiquing "60 WRD/MIN Art Critic" at Arthouse.

"Quit the Neighborhood," is Sara J Frantz's most recent collection of drawings based on the raw landscapes of Iceland and West Texas. This collection of drawings, coin sized homes isolated on white paper, will be on exhibit at Cactus Bra SPACE in the Blue Star Complex, San Antonio, Texas from June 1, 2009 to June 21, 2009.

Originally from Chicago, Frantz has received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and in 2007, her MFA in Painting from the University of Texas at Austin. She continues to lives in Austin, dividing her time as a lecturer of painting and drawing between the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas at San Antonio.
